The sim-racing industry is highly competitive, and for obvious reasons: it’s much cheaper to invest in a simulation rig than to do on-track racing sessions, whether you’re a racing driver or not.
The brands present in this segment are both numerous and cover several parts of it. We have players who focus on amateur and beginner pilots, while others target those with previous sim-racing experience or are pros in the discipline.
Among the brands targeting the hobbyist market, we have Logitech and Thrustmaster who have been in the industry for some time. Experienced virtual pilots generally turn to Fanatec, Simagic or Moza Racingwhich, by the way, is a very young brand in the industry.
Speaking of the latter, its range of sim-racing peripherals is moderately well-stocked, with wheels that touch on a bit of everything as far as drivers are concerned, such as the GS V2P GT , which aims to be a GT/F1 wheel for seasoned racers. In what follows, I’m going to tell you about this wheel, its strengths and weaknesses (spoiler alert, there aren’t that many) and also what I think of it.
Main and technical characteristics of the wheel
- GT/F1-style steering wheel with 30 cm diameter and rectangular shape
- Forged carbon fiber structure
- 4 pallets, 2 of which are magnetic
- 10 buttons, 2 joysticks, 2 rotary switches and 5 encoders
- RevLED on top of front panel
- Perforated leather on cuffs
- QR D1-Spec at rear
- Compatible with powerful Moza Racing bases
GS V2P GT design
So, the design of the GS V2P GT. What can I say? It’s beautiful. The steering wheel has a forged carbon-fiber central structure, with aluminum on some elements (rear and a little on the front), which gives it an excellent look. It’s really beautiful, especially the faceplate with its forged carbon fiber.
All buttons have coloured stickers to help differentiate them quickly in the middle of a sim-racing session. In addition, there are green lines on the bottom and top of the steering wheel and on the rotary switches, enhancing the steering wheel’s special look.

Customized assembly
For once, Moza’s QR, based on the D1-Spec, can be found at the rear of the wheel, enabling it to be attached to the brand’s bases (from the R9 to the R21). This QR not only ensures a solid connection with the base, but also sets aside virtually any flex or movement on the drive shaft.
Installing this steering wheel on a Moza base couldn’t be simpler: you pull on the QR ring, align the steering wheel and its Quick Release with the base, snap everything together and release the QR ring. This is more or less what you’d find on a racing car, as the D1-Spec is used in competition.
Manufacturing and finishing
The faceplate of the GS V2P GT uses forged carbon fiber with a thickness of 5 mm, and it’s simply premium. So, not only is this material light and very rigid, it’s also beautiful.
There are also several aluminum parts or elements, such as the back-plate where the QR attaches, and this is more or less standard with other steering wheels from the Chinese brand. On the wrists, Moza has taken the initiative to use perforated leather on them, and frankly, it’s about time! I don’t know if the brand got the memo, but it’s positioned in a premium segment. Except that sometimes, at least on its non-high-end steering wheels, the brand doesn’t use so many noble materials. In any case, the GS V2P GT is well made, of high quality and very well presented, and that’s the main thing.
Handling the wheel
First of all: the GS V2P GT is a rather large steering wheel for the disciplines it targets (GT and F1). In terms of grip and ergonomics, the 30 cm diameter won’t penalize you on these points, but bear in mind that the steering wheel will cover your HUD or screen a little when you turn the wheel.
Apart from that, ergonomics are very good, with buttons and controls well placed on the faceplate. In fact, with the exception of the encoders, all buttons are on the sides, very close to your hands. The same goes for the 4 paddles on the back, which fall naturally under your fingers, click well and are the right size in my opinion. We don’t really have the problem of the paddles being too close to the steering wheel as on other Moza wheels, for example.
Sensations during play
With its 30 cm diameter and typical GT/Formula shape, the GS V2P GT is a superb wheel to get to grips with and use in sim-racing, especially if you’re a fan of the disciplines I’ve just mentioned. The reason is simple: the ergonomics have really been studied to ensure that this steering wheel is capable of giving everything to sim racers.
The use of forged carbon fiber allows the wheel to have a contained weight, even though the back-plate is aluminum, which balances the masses slightly. However, I strongly advise you to use an R12 chainstay or higher with the GS V2P GT, because even if the R9 is technically compatible, you may experience a touch of clipping in certain situations. What’s more, the R12 is, in my opinion, better suited to GT and/or Formula sessions due to its force feedback algorithm, which is calibrated to transcribe force feedback in a much more natural way.
The 4 paddles at the rear are very good, and I’d say fortunate, given the price of the GS V2P GT, and especially its range. The 2 magnetic ones click hard, even a little too much. Fortunately for us, Moza uses pads to reduce paddle noise, and that’s really helpful.
Apart from that, there’s not much more I can say about this steering wheel, except perhaps the absence of a screen for telemetry, but Moza doesn’t see it that way. Why? you might ask. Well, it’s simple: the Chinese manufacturer already offers dashboards for its bases, and putting a screen on its steering wheels wouldn’t really be a good idea, from a sales point of view of course. And as you’ll have gathered, you should never compete with your own products.

GS V2P GT compatibility
For the basics, the GS V2P GT is compatible with the R9, R12, R16 and R21, which is just superb, even if I’m not really a fan of such product compartmentalization. But at the same time, if you can afford a GS V2P GT, you’re not going to get an R5. So…
As far as sim-racing titles are concerned, this steering wheel is compatible with virtually all those available on the market, from rFactor, to ACC, to iRacing. The full list can be found on the Moza Racing website.
Value for money
Retailing at €479, this steering wheel, in my opinion, offers good value for money, especially when compared with the competition. Admittedly, Fanatec offers cheaper F1-type steering wheels, but they use unforged carbon fiber for their structure, and as far as I’m concerned, that’s worth the price difference alone.
My verdict on Moza Racing’s GS V2P GT
Is the GS V2P GT for you? If you’re a GT/F1 fan and you already have a good Moza Racing base (R12 or higher) with a budget that can keep up with your passion, then yes, the GS V2P GT is a steering wheel that will keep you happy during your races, as well as helping you to greatly improve and increase the immersion of your races at the same time.
If you’re an occasional GT or Formula racer on a budget, this wheel is fine, don’t get me wrong, but there are cheaper alternatives at Moza Racing.
