In the sim-racing market, we have many players specializing in different segments. Logitech and Thrustmaster have long dominated the entry-level segment, and this is still the case in 2025, with a complete bundled range often trading at prices between €200 and €300. These two brands are present on both the PC platform and home consoles (Xbox and Playstation).
Recently, the Swiss and French brands of sim-racing peripherals broke into the high-end segment by offering Direct Drive bases for the first time in their history, still compatible with PC and consoles. Except that competition on the PC market is fierce, with players such as Moza RacingFanatec and Simagic for virtual drivers.
Speaking of Simagic, this Asian firm has become a staple of PC sim-racing in the space of just a few years. Fueled by racing enthusiasts and real-life professional drivers, Simagic quickly made a name for itself in the industry thanks to high-performance and, above all, reliable peripherals, backed up by software support for highly customizable setups.
Except that console racers have, as it were, been left out in the cold. The best equipment is on PC, and PS5 gamers are left with bases that don’t perform all that well compared to what brands offer on Windows. Which brings us to the next question: is it possible to use a Simagic base on PS5? The answer is a little complicated.
On paper, it’s possible to use a Simagic base, or any of the firm’s other equipment for that matter, via an electronic box that acts as an intermediary. We have the Ras1ution 2 and Sigma Cortex that enable this, despite the fact that Simagic doesn’t offer PS5-compatible products.

But how does it work? The box acts as an intermediary, applying the profile of a base unit already compatible with the PS5 to transform the Simagic’s signal, enabling the console to “understand” it. In real life, the driving experience is totally different from that on PC.
With such a case, you lose precision, force feedback and feedback. In the end, you end up with a Logitech G29 or another Thrustmaster PS5-compatible base. The solution offered by these boxes is not viable for drivers looking for a good driving experience, and you’ll be much better served with peripherals that are designed to run on Sony’s console.
Fanatec offers a wide selection of peripherals and sim-racing equipment that are supported by the PS5, whether in terms of Direct Drive bases, steering wheels or pedalboards. It’s complete and, above all, adapted to Sony’s console.
