The official Assetto Corsa account has confirmed the arrival of the 2018 Porsche 935 in the next version 0.7 of Assetto Corsa EVO. Clarification counts: this is not a road-going supercar, but a track-only Porsche.

This is an important detail, because this 935 doesn’t have the profile of a “catalog” car. It exists in a rather rare zone: production limited to 77 examples, modern base, very strong historical references, and no obligation to correspond to a balanced racing category. In a game like EVO, this kind of car can have more personality than a more expected model.

A 911 turned track object

The 2018 935 takes up the spirit of the 935/78 “Moby Dick”, without being an old-fashioned reproduction. Porsche built just 77 examples of this modern version, with a clear approach: no road homologation, no everyday compromises, just a car made for touring on the racetrack.

The technical base also explains the interest. The engine is a 3.8-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder, rated at 700 hp, with 7-speed PDK transmission and rear-wheel drive. This is not a promise of behavior, since we’ll have to wait until we’ve actually driven it to judge the model, but the specification sheet already gives an idea of the type of content: powerful, exclusive, designed for efficiency on the track, and probably more demanding than a highly supervised GT.

The strength of this Porsche is also visual. Its elongated body and link to Moby Dick make it instantly recognizable. For EVO, which continues to develop its catalog and update schedule, this is no anonymous addition.

A first piece of v0.7, not yet the complete table

The point to remember is that Kunos hasn’t detailed everything yet. The 2018 Porsche 935 is confirmed for v0.7, but the release date for this version and the rest of the content are not yet publicly known. It would therefore be premature to draw up a full review of the forthcoming update.

On the other hand, as the first car to be featured, the choice works. Rather than a generic addition, Kunos shows a rare, spectacular car with a real story behind it. For players who have been following EVO since early access, this is at least a sign that the content to come is not limited to the obvious.

Time will tell whether this v0.7 also brings the expected improvements in gameplay, performance and overall experience. For now, all we can say is that the 935 opens the sequence with a car that’s got attitude. And in a simulator where a model’s personality counts as much as its technical specifications, that’s not a bad starting point.
