Assetto Corsa Evo V0.6 will be released in the next few days, and Kunos Simulazioni promises a major update that’s sure to get people talking. On the menu: six new cars and a track for everyone, but above all a major overhaul of long-standing issues, starting with server management and controller mapping.

Servers finally under our control

This is THE big feature of V0.6: the ability tohost your own dedicated servers. Until now, organizing a race between friends or for a league cost an arm and a leg: you had to use an external service and pay €5 for a day or €15 for a month. In other words, private leagues and small groups of simracers, which run intermittently, either did without multi, or only ran public events (the quality of which is often uncertain).

No more hassle! V0.6 will enable you to launch your own server directly via a dedicated Steam application, to be found in the Tools section of the platform. This is a radical change that will make multiplayer much more accessible and affordable for the community. We’re still waiting for details before release, but we can imagine an operation similar to that found on other titles, where everyone can host their own race as they see fit. That’s great news for league life and player retention.

A less nightmarish mapping interface

Ah, controller mapping on AC Evo… We’ve all experienced this obscure interface, forcing us to search desperately through hundreds of actions to map our brake pedal. It was a real turn-off for newcomers and a waste of time for regular users. Kunos seems to have listened to feedback, as this V0.6 promises a revised interface, largely inspired by those ofAssetto Corsa Competizione andAssetto Corsa Rally. The idea is to be based on input type rather than individual devices, which should drastically simplify the process. It’s about time!

AI and other technical improvements

On the artificial intelligence side, Kunos has also been hard at work. New track modeling should enable computer-controlled cars toattack with “slightly less predicted overlap necessary”. In plain English, single-file racing should (finally) be less frequent, offering a more realistic and less rigid challenge, but we’ll wait and see on the track. Netcode is also receiving attention, with updates aimed at “reducing the ‘chance of extreme latency and loss of connection'”, which is always welcome for online stability, but remains to be proven. Finally, Kunos announces adjustments to tire and suspension physics, as well as official support for MoTeC telemetry, an essential tool for purists.

The Nürburgring Nordschleife is also set to be updated to 2026 standards. This is likely to be a minor artistic update, with no complete overhaul expected. Bug fixes and optimizations are also on the agenda, to fine-tune the overall experience.

Despite these promising announcements, the community remains mixed. Some, like Traxion.gg users, bitterly regret the absence of VR patches since launch, claiming the game to be “unplayable” in this mode, despite being promised from the outset. This is a persistent black mark that weighs heavily on the experience of those who have invested in VR setups. Others fear that the game will become a “bland multiplayer racing game” and express their frustration at the direction taken by Kunos, going so far as to declare the studio “useless” and the game “dead” for lack of a career mode for Evo.

These important technical updates on such critical points as servers, mapping and AI are positive signals. It remains to be seen whether Kunos will be able to reassure the most skeptical players and inject sufficient dynamism to build a solid community around Assetto Corsa Evo.
