Sim-racing has gained considerable momentum in recent years, and has even become an integral part of motorsport training.

On the PC platform, many players share different sim-racing segments. Thrustmaster, Logitech, Simagic, Fanatec, Simucube, Asetek, Moza Racing and Grid are just some of the brands offering a complete range of sim-racing peripherals. It’s a very complete market, whether for drivers new to the discipline, or those with many years of driving behind them.

Today, in 2025, there are mainly 2 home platforms: the PS5 and the Xbox Series. When it comes to sim-racing equipment on consoles, the list of manufacturers is much more meagre than on PCs. We find ourselves with only a few brands present, notably Logitech, Thrustmaster and Fanatec, which offer interesting products.

In what follows, we take a look at the best setups for virtual racing on PS5, divided into 3 equipment categories.

The best entry-level PS5 sim-racing setups

GT DD Pro 5 nm

Sim Racing PS5 entry-level setups Fanatec

Manufacturer Fanatec is a big name in the sim-racing industry, and has been for over 20 years. Its catalog covers literally every motorsport discipline, especially when it comes to steering wheels. F1, GT, endurance, Nascar, drift, rally, you name it.

For this first entry, I took the famous 5 nm GT DD Pro, officially licensed by Gran Turismo. This is the CSL DD base in a 5 nm max torque version, with a 28 cm diameter flat-bottomed flywheel. In terms of feel, we’re well served by the base, which develops linear, precise and, above all, not very high torque for beginners in sim-racing.

The CSL Pedal is also available in a standard version, i.e. with 2 pedals and without Load Cell on the brake. It features an all-metal structure, and can be upgraded with an LC and a clutch pedal.

This bundle from Fanatec is simply perfect for your first sim-racing laps. What’s more, it’s natively supported on all Playstations, including the PS5. And to complete the setup, I suggest a Playseat chassis, like the Evolution, so as not to blow the budget. And speaking of expense, expect to shell out around €1,000 for the whole thing.

The Logitech RS50 + RS Pedals bundle

Sim Racing PS5 entry-level setups Logitech

Logitech is well known in the gaming world, particularly in sim-racing. For a long time, the Swiss brand limited itself to the lower end of the racing simulation market, with geared bases. But this has changed in recent years with the launch of the brand’s first DD bases, including the RS50.

This bundle is very recent, and features a Direct Drive base with 8 nm of torque, which is more than enough to get you started in sim-racing, especially on PS5. The engine is responsive and perfectly adaptable to driver preferences via integrated software, which is very practical on consoles.

As for the steering wheel, it’s just sumptuous, with brushed aluminum on the faceplate, and TPU leather on the hoop. There are 16 controls on the front, 2 paddles on the rear and a small screen on the base for on-the-fly adjustments.

Logitech doesn’t offer a pedalboard directly with this bundle, but has developed the RS Pedals to go with this new entry in its catalog. It’s a sober, modular device featuring a Load Cell on the brake.

To complete your setup, I simply recommend the same chassis as for the previous bundle, namely the Playseat Evolution.

If you decide to embark on your sim-racing adventure with Logitech’s RS50, the complete setup, including chassis, will cost you €1,100.

The best mid-range PS5 sim-racing setups

The Fanatec GT DD Extreme + CSL Elite Pedals / ClubSport Pedals V3 bundle

Sim Racing PS5 mid-range setups Fanatec

Fanatec’s GT DD Extreme is the revised variant of the bundle we first saw, namely the GT DD Pro. Still officially licensed for Gran Turismo and compatible with the PS5, this time you get a Direct Drive base that develops 15 nm of constant torque, an updated steering wheel and 4 rear paddles.

The base is part of the ClubSport range, and covers the middle of the sim-racing peripheral spectrum. You’ll get a very good feel for it, Fanatec-style of course. As for the ergonomics of the steering wheel, it’s entirely round for this model, with a leather-like material on the hoop.

However, this bundle doesn’t come with a pedalboard as standard, so you’ll have to dip into the Fanatec catalog to complete your setup. The brand offers the CSL Elite Pedals V2 or the ClubSport Pedals V3 in Load Cell to stay in the same segment.

Let’s move on to the price and the cockpit. The bundle costs €1300, and you have to add €300 or €330 for the crankset(CSL or ClubSport). As far as the chassis is concerned, I’m in favor of Fanatec’s ClubSport GT Cockpit, which retails for around €1300 with a bucket seat.

Note that if you opt for this bundle with the ClubSport V3 crankset, Fanatec offers a complete package at around €2,735,saving almost €200 compared to buying the components separately.

The Logitech G Pro bundle

Sim Racing PS5 mid-range setups Logitech

Around 3 years ago, Logitech decided to release the G Pro Racing Wheel, its first Direct Drive bundle. Since then, the brand’s Pro catalog has welcomed a number of new entries, including the RS50 we saw above.

The G Pro Racing Wheel features a DD base that develops 11 nm of constant torque, a 29 cm aluminum flywheel and 4 magnetic paddles at the rear. The wheel features a striking brushed-aluminum design, with the controls positioned on the outside, like a racing car.

Logitech’s G Pro Racing Wheel is a very good bundle for sim-racing fans, but power may be lacking in some situations, especially against the GT DD Extreme, which outperforms it by 4 nm of torque.

Nevertheless, Logitech is redeeming itself on price, literally. Here again, only the base and steering wheel are available as a bundle on the brand’s website, and this is a change of direction, since at launch there was a complete bundle with pedalboard too. The base and steering wheel cost €1,100, and the pedals €390. For the cockpit, the Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit is an excellent choice for this category.

The best high-end PS5 sim-racing setups

Fanatec ClubSport DD+, Porsche GT3 R and ClubSport Pedals V3

Sim Racing PS5 high-end setups Fanatec

Let’s finish with Fanatec’s best PS5 products. For the base, unfortunately the Podium DD2 is not natively compatible with the Playstation, and we’re restricted to the ClubSport DD+. It’s a very good base, that’s not the point, but for PC racers, they can get a taste of Podium DD2‘s 25 nm of torque.

When it comes to steering wheels, you’ll find almost forty on the Fanatec store, all covering different motorsport categories. Formula, GT, endurance, rally, classic, etc. I’ve chosen the Porsche GT3 R for this list because it covers more or less all sim-racing disciplines, except Formula if you’re looking for total immersion. It’s a flat-bottomed steering wheel, 32 cm in diameter, with a hub featuring 6 paddles, an OLED screen and 16 controls in all.

The pedal section is covered by the ClubSport Pedals V3, of course, with its 90 KG Load Cell in standard or inverted versions. This crankset is one of the best Load Cell cranksets on the market, as well as being very popular with virtual racers.

Let’s finish with the chassis and the price. For the cockpit, staying in the Fanatec theme with the ClubSport Cockpit is more than logical in my opinion. As for the bank loan, expect to pay between €3280 and €3380, depending on the ClubSport crankset.
